One Taco Stands aLONE

Lone Star Taqueria

…is one of my favorte spots in Salt Lake Valley to enjoy a Mexican sit down or drive through. Located in Cottonwood Heights, it’s found at a perfect quick-stop spot for adventurers on their way home from the Cottonwood canyons.

Lone Star has received previous praise for its fish tacos and fish burritos. The sauces they use on each menu item is unique and authentic (speaking Spanish helps the ordering process). Ordering chips and salsa is more than just chips and salsa–one has the opportunity to select a preferred salsa from a smorgasbord of salsa recipes.

Big Snow Days in Salt Lake!

Deep powder at Solitude Mountain Resort - December 22, 2008 The lake effect in Salt Lake has been in full effect for the last 48!

Snow reports at each resort show 12 or more inches of new snow at 9 of Utah’s 13 ski resorts! And only one resort reported less than 10 inches.

So, pretty much you can go anywhere in Utah this week and expect some serious fluff. Talk about a Merry Christmas. Here’s a full report of the recent dump in Utah:

Feeling Powder at Snowbird

Snowbird has been open since early November and although there was a dry spell that had some questioning the viability of staying open through the end of November and first bit of December, I’d be willing to bet those drier days were not even closely on the mind of this skier.

Since the video below was shot, another 2 feet of snow has fallen at Snowbird. With a base depth just shy of 6 feet, the skiing and snowboarding conditions at Salt Lake’s four ski resorts keeps getting better and better.

Sure, there are still rocks and other obstacles that can be seen, I’m not going to lie to you. But my guess is that by the time January 1 rolls around next week the coverage will be similar to mid-season. To watch the video… continue reading…

Did You Say Powder Day?

Winter is in full swing and if you’ve got plans to be here during the Holiday’s you may have timed things perfectly. A fast moving storm blew through Utah today adding over a foot of new snow to nearly all of the Cottonwood Canyon Resorts.

Solitude had 9″ by the time 3pm rolled around with more on the way. The weather service is calling for an additional 4″ overnight.

Behind yesterday’s storm is an even bigger one that is set to arrive Christmas Eve and extend well into Friday. And yet another storm is on track to hit us over the weekend. continue reading…

Where will you be skiing this holiday season?

There’s nothing like a holiday break in Utah to get your shred on in style!

I claim this fallen tree as my own!

Storm Day Skiing at Solitude

I recall the first time I visited Solitude Mountain Resort. Back then it was just Solitude, and it was just $5 for a lift ticket. ($10 on the weekends).  And the skiing?  Well, I recall taking runs where it seemed my cousin and I were the only ones on the mountain.

So it was yesterday while taking a break to warm up at the Apex day lodge Last Chance Mining Camp that I struck up a conversation with a gal who like me shared a history with Solitude.

We both agreed that despite the changes that have been made over the years, the edition of the village, the high speed lift, that the feeling of skiing Solitude was as unique as it has ever been. continue reading…

Snowbird is now 75% open and had some nice new snow for all the riders this weekend. What better way to celebrate than by jumping into it!

With more snow on the forecast, Snowbird is shaping up to have an awesome December!

Starting Off With a Bang

In case you haven’t heard, or read, or seen, Winter is Officially On in Utah. I decreed it as such and as the foremost declarer of seasons around the world, my word is gospel.

I can prove it with these awesome photos & video from last week at Alta.

Shane is glad he has a powder skirt in November!

I make a bold move on my new skis :)

Shane takes an ‘Alta Shower’

If it looks this good now, imagine what it’ll be like by Thanksgiving ;)

A big thx to Alex who worked his butt of nailing those photos of us!

Until next time…
